WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – All schools in Williams Lake, B.C., and in nearby 150 Mile House have been closed until further notice, according to an advisory posted on the School District 27 website.
The notice advises that, due to a police emergency, school buses are delayed and schools in Williams Lake are locked down.
The sole elementary school in 150 Mile House, about 15 kilometres east of Williams Lake, is also affected.
Cariboo Chilcotin School District Superintendent Mark Thiessen says, in an email message, parents are being told to keep their children at home, but he can’t comment on the nature of the emergency.
Williams Lake RCMP have not released any details.
An update is expected as soon as possible.

“We know that it’s a small group of individuals that are very prolific,” Nelson said.

“We have pushed the RCMP and federal government to try to ensure that if these guys are out of jail that they should have tracking devices… that will allow us to track them 24/7, 365 days a year.”
