WATCH / Transcript – President TRUMP: Commencement Address at Liberty University in Virginia

President Donald Trump will deliver the first commencement address of his White House tenure at Liberty University in Virginia, the largest Christian university in the world.

“I look forward to speaking to this amazing group of students on such a momentous occasion,” Trump told CBN News’ David Brody. “Our children truly are the future and I look forward to celebrating the success of this graduating class as well as sharing lessons as they embark on their next chapter full of hope, faith, optimism, and a passion for life.”

“The more that a broken system tells you that you’re wrong, the more certain you must be that you must keep pushing ahead,” Trump urged. He also joked about those who doubted his long-shot presidential bid. “The Class of 2017, dressed in cap and gown, graduating to a totally brilliant future. And here I am standing before you as President of the United States. So, I’m guessing there are some people here today who thought that either one of those things — either one — would really require major help from God. And we got it.”

Falwell presented Trump with an honorary doctorate from Liberty University. It was Trump’s first-ever commencement speech; he was only the second sitting president to speak at a graduation ceremony of the fundamentalist evangelical college.
