The hotel maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of attempted rape is making headlines, sharing her version of what happened that night.

In an interview with Newsweek, Nafissatou Diallo says Strauss-Kahn looked like a “crazy man.”

She also says the 62-year-old former IMF Chief attacked her as soon as she entered his hotel room.

Strauss-Kahn has repeatedly denied the charges and his lawyers have called Diallo’s interview a last-ditch effort to extract money.

On the streets of New York, locals reacted to the interview.

[Heather Brook, New Jersey Resident]:

“She spoke out after the fact, which doesn’t quite make sense to me. There’s a little inconsistency with the story. I’m not sure why she waited to speak out after the fact, so that makes me a little bit suspicious then of what really happened.”

[Diego Lopez, New York Resident]:

“It’s an advantageous moment to take advantage of. Honestly, that’s what I think.”

[Thomas Frantzeskakis, New York Resident]:

“I think she’s just taking advantage of her position and she’s trying to make money out of it, so it’s understandable, but I’m not sure she’s very honest about it.”

Diallo’s credibility has been thrown into question after she changed her account of the night of the purported assault – as well allegedly fabricating a story about being gang-raped in Guinea in order to gain asylum in the U.S.
