The The Costa Concordia Has been Up righted! Stunning Pictures of what is left of the Luxury Liner

It took a a  19-hour effort,to get the  Costa Concordia cruise ship standing upright.

Something called a  “parbuckling” process, wherein pulleys and steel cables are used to slowly pull the 60,000-ton ship to a upright position,  was a success. The Ship will now have hollow steel boxes refered to as sponsons attached to the side of it to ensure it’s buoyancy, It is to be towed away for scrap.

A remarkable scene, and even more remarkable considering  the ship has been on its side along a rocky coast since it’s crashed in January 2012,  leaving  32 people dead.
