NASA Plans To Release Lithium Into the Ionosphere

Between July 5th and 23rd 2011 NASA will launch four rockets from their Virginia Flight Facility which will release lithium into the ionosphere for research purposes.  Two Terrier-Improved Orion and Black Brant V rockets will be launched two at a time, 15 seconds apart but each pair on separate days.  The clouds created by the lithium will be studied by ground based cameras equipped to detect the chemicals.  Read the full story on the NASA website.
